  • Ruser and I looked at wedding bands today.  I have to say, I'm pretty pleased.  We both found somthing we liked in less than 5 minutes.  I guess we're easy to please.  I want a 2mm white gold band, and I think Ruser wants a 4mm.  Engraving, if we decide to do it, would be $5 per letter. Not bad.

  • Rev Alise agree to officiate!

I sent her an email last week, but apparently she doesn't check that one much and when I told her what it was about she screamed.

She's put us down in her calendar, and when she's got time she's going to email me back and then hopefully Ruser and I can get together with her soon.    Sooooo happy!!!!

For those of you who don't know, Rev Alise used to be the campus pastor where Ruser and I went to school (Sarah, if you read this, you've seen her, she spoke at my commencement at CBC). We were on the prayer team together with her, so we really feel comfortable with her.  We really wanted someone who knew us, and we both love Rev.  She has so much energy and enthusiasm, I'm just unbelievably happy right now.

I should probably call the church soon and let them know...

    following my gut

So far, in my wedding planning, every time something really awesome happens, I feel nauseous immediately before.  When we finally talked to the church, I was terrified they'd decided June was too busy.  When we found the caterer, I was terrified that he'd laugh at us when we told him our budget.  Before I went to try on my dress with Ruser's mom, I was incredibly antsy, in addition to nauseous, and couldn't sit still because I was terrified it'd be all wrong and that I took her all that way for nothing.  And now, the cleaners: the whole drive there, and all of today, really, I was scared they'd either not been able to clean it, or they messed up the entire dress in the effort (sewing purple ribbon on the dress, making the stain permanent and making me pay extra), and no, it's perfect.  Well as perfect as I want it to be.  There are teensy traces where you can tell, but you have to be up close.

So, follow my gut when it feels like I'm going to throw up?  Hmm...

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I bought some ribbon at Hancock fabrics this morning, and the lady cutting fabrics was a little nutsy or had the worst short-term memory I've ever seen.

Lady in front of me: "I need 6 yards of this cord."
Employee: "Okay." After cutting it and writing down the price on the receipt, she says. "Okay, that's 5 yards..."
    Lady: "No, I wanted SIX."
Employee: "Oh, but you said five." And after counting the yards again, she had indeed cut six yards.

    Employee: "Monday?"
Me: "Uhm, yes... can I have six inches of each of these ribbons?"
She lays it down and measures, and says, "One inch?"
Me: "No, I want SIX inches."
Employee: "Oh, but you said one..."
    Me: "I want six inches."
Employee: "Okay, I'm going to cut you eight inches off of this one and six from the other one."
    Me:   "uhm, okay."

I would say it was a hearing problem but it wasn't.  She was having no problem hearing anything but the things she needed to remember for about a minute.  I bought the ribbon to test against my dress - it was too white, and not quite the right kind of ribbon, which is fine, because I don't want to buy it there now, anyway.

The cleaners I took the dress to was going to charge me $350.  Ha!  I don't think so.

Uhm, so any ideas for DIY cleaning the hem?  I'm doing price-comparing now.

There's a ribbon along the hem I might just remove or replace and that'd make the cleaning a little less intense.  Maybe I could remove the ribbon, hem the dress a bit, and then replace the ribbon? Then get it cleaned?

    Hmm..
