I bought some ribbon at Hancock fabrics this morning, and the lady cutting fabrics was a little nutsy or had the worst short-term memory I've ever seen.

Lady in front of me: "I need 6 yards of this cord."
Employee: "Okay." After cutting it and writing down the price on the receipt, she says. "Okay, that's 5 yards..."
    Lady: "No, I wanted SIX."
Employee: "Oh, but you said five." And after counting the yards again, she had indeed cut six yards.

    Employee: "Monday?"
Me: "Uhm, yes... can I have six inches of each of these ribbons?"
She lays it down and measures, and says, "One inch?"
Me: "No, I want SIX inches."
Employee: "Oh, but you said one..."
    Me: "I want six inches."
Employee: "Okay, I'm going to cut you eight inches off of this one and six from the other one."
    Me:   "uhm, okay."

I would say it was a hearing problem but it wasn't.  She was having no problem hearing anything but the things she needed to remember for about a minute.  I bought the ribbon to test against my dress - it was too white, and not quite the right kind of ribbon, which is fine, because I don't want to buy it there now, anyway.
